George J. Adam, 55, of Star Junction, Pa., passed away Thursday, September 21, 2006. He was born December 21, 1950, in McKeesport, Pa., the son of the late George J. and Mary Lou Vascura Adam.

He was a statistical secretary for the Yough Area Fisherman Association and was in charge of membership and a weekly feeder at the fish nursery. He was a member of the Star Junction Fish and Game Club.

George was the original coordinator for the Kid’s Fishing Program at Virgin Run Lake. He was a member of Mt. Lodge, Inc. of West Virginia, a member of the National Rifle Association, member of Kecksburg Sportsman Club and a lifetime member of the North American Hunter. George also took care of the grounds along the river in Whitsett, Pa.

George was a former security guard at Laurel Highlands School District.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Ludwick Adam; one son, Christopher J. Adam and wife, Virginia of Dearborn, Michigan; step-daughter, Christine Calderone and husband, Jeff of Smithton, Pa. a step-son, Greg Matty and wife, Renee’ of Star Junction; four grandchildren: Alicja Adam, Joseph Adam, Sidney and Amanda Matty. The following brother and sisters: Ethel and husband, Hal Batey of Branford, Florida, Ann Marie Adam of Elizabeth, Pa., Diane Foley of Argyle, Texas, Mary Lou and husband, Jerry Lewis of Hanover, Pa., Susan and husband, David Ferri of Seven Fields, Pa., Sharon and husband, Bill Keating of North Huntingdon, Pa. and Michael E. Adam of Port Vue, Pa. George is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews and three aunts.

In addition to his parents, his brother, David Vascura Adam, preceded him in death.

Friends will be received in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 106 East Independence Street, Perryopolis, Pa., this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where a Prayer Service will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Perryopolis. The Rev. Father John T. Euker Celebrant.

Interment will be private.

A Wake Service will be held on Sunday evening at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
