Hazel Dugan
Hazel Dugan, 78, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away September 21, 2006, after a valiant battle with ovarian cancer. She was born March 30, 1928, at the home of her parent, Raymond H. Hardin and Edna (Dunn) Hardin in Uniontown, Pa.
She was a descendent of two pioneer Fayette County families, a member of the Prairie Chapter of the DAR and a member of Beta Sigma Phi for over 40 years.
Haxel was a 1946 graduate of Uniontown High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech and Hearing Science and a Master of Arts degree in Special Education from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. She taught at schools in Hickman Mills, Missouri, Darien, Illinois and Baltimore County, Maryland.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ray Dugan; daughters: Ginny Evans (at whose residence she died), Kathi Herrick both of Lee’s Summit; a son, Tim Dugan and wife, Sue of Valley Springs, California; sister-in-law, Lorraine Hardin of Washington, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Haxel was loved very much by her family and all who knew her. She was a gifted artist, teacher, mother and especially wife. Hazel, I love you so much Ray.
Viewing will be held Monday, September 25, 2006, from 6 to 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2006, at 10 a.m. Both services will be held at ALDERSGATE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 350 I50 HWY, LEES’S SUMMIT, MISSOURI. Burial will be in Garden of Faith Mausoleum, Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo.
