Stella Stephanoff
Stella Stephanoff, a lifelong resident of Brownsville, Pennsylvania, has passed away after a brief illness at her retirement home in Apollo Beach, Florida, attended by her niece and nephew, Andrea Sekora Stewart and Philip Sekora. She died on Thursday, August 10, 2006. Stella was 82.
She was born July 1, 1924, in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Philip Stephanoff and Christina Kiproff Stephanoff.
Known by many as a longtime employee of the now former Cohen’s Furniture Store in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, and the Gallatin National Bank in Brownsville, and a dear sister to the now late Helen Stephanoff Sekora, Stella chose a quiet life of social, political and environmental consciousness.
A devoted lover of cats and dogs, she is survived by her two remaining adopted stray carts, Cybil and Skinnay, who continue to thrive with her niece, Andrea, in Apollo Beach.
Stella was known for her extraordinary quick wit, exceptional breadth of knowledge, from politics to sports, and her sophisticated sense of humor.
She will also remembered, upon reflection, for her kindness, generosity towards others, her inherent lack of being judgmental and her ability to allow others to feel the warmth of her unconditional love. She made this world a brighter, better place with friendships formed and good times shared!
Her sisters, Sophie Stephanoff Bell and Helen Stephanoff Sekora, preceded her in death.
In addition to her niece, Andrea, and nephew, Philip, Stella is survived by her sister, Cely Stephanoff Carson of Monongahela, Pennsylvania.
There was no public visitation or services.
