Vo-tech board hires three
The Fayette County Vocational-Technical School Operating Committee filled two full-time positions during Monday’s meeting and hired a third person on a part-time basis. The committee elected to hire John Mattey and Melaney Hegyes for the full-time positions following a 54-minute executive session for personnel reasons.
Mattey was hired as the vo-tech’s learning facilitator and Hegyes was hired as the I.T. / resource instructor by unanimous vote. Both will be paid an annual salary of $32,000.
The committee also hired Leah Jobes as a part-time recruiter at $12 an hour with no benefits.
Vo-tech Executive Director Dr. Edward Jeffreys said all three positions required the applicant to have a bachelor’s degree.
As for other matters, the committee approved a financial aid services agreement between the vo-tech school’s licensed practical nursing program and Hunter Consulting Inc. to provide financial aid consulting services to the students and the coordinator of the program.
The agreement will cost approximately $9,990 per student for up to 60 students, an increase of $30 per student.
In an unrelated matter, the committee also approved Steve Patchan and Nancy Rossell as the Perkins secondary and post-secondary grant coordinators, respectively, at $25 an hour not to exceed a limited number of hours.
The committee also conducted the following business:
– Granted a medical leave to Frank Korona, cooperative education instructor through approximately Jan. 2, 2007.
– Agreed to pay the culinary arts instructor and students who work during meetings that occur during the 2006-2007 school year. Instructors will be paid $25 an hour, and students will be paid $7.
– Gave approval for the vo-tech student council to hold three dances.
