Erma Marie Hewitt Miller
Erma Marie Hewitt Miller, 87, of Carmichaels, Pa., died Tuesday, September 26, 2006, in Southwest Medical Center in Waynesburg, Pa. She was born on September 23, 1919, in Lambert, Fayette County, Pa., the daughter of Edgar B. and Eva Longanecker Hewitt.
Erma was a graduate of Waynesburg College Class of 1941.
She was married to Ewing G. Miller on January 30, 1946, who survives.
With the exception of two years, Erma taught Latin, English and Math in the Southeastern Greene School District her entire career.
She was a member of the Sugar Grove Baptist Church where she served as pianist and organist from the age of 13 until her illness. She was a member of the American Baptist Women, 10 Mile Association, Carmichael’s Grange #1389, PA State Grange (life member), Greene County Farm Women, American Association of University Women, The Warrior Trail Association, the Paul R. Stewart Society and the PA Association of Retired Teachers.
She is survived by her husband, children, Kay L. Zoldos and husband, Robert of Leesburg, Virginia and Carmichaels, Pa., Mary Jo Jefferson and husband Joseph of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Amy Morris and husband Douglas of Falls Church, Virginia; grandchildren, Robert II and Thomas Zoldos, Traci Romedy McNatt and Daniel Morris; and great-grandchildren, Kathleen Zoldos, Robert Zoldos III and Brooks “LB” Romedy.
Friends will be received in the PAUL M. LESAKO FUNERAL HOME INC., 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, Pa., (724-966-5100) on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Sugar Groove Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Vucic officiating.
Burial in Glades Cemetery, Carmichaels.
