More charges filed against robbery suspect

BULLSKIN TWP. – A Vanderbilt man and woman charged with robbing a Bullskin Township fruit stand in August have also been charged with conspiring to rob a Westmoreland County post office. Seth James Annis, 20, and Lindsey Renea Weimer, 21, both of 340 Flatwoods Road, were arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Robert Breakiron for a criminal conspiracy to commit robbery charge filed by state police at Greensburg prior to scheduled preliminary hearings for the alleged township robbery.

The related cases against Annis have been combined and will be heard by Breakiron.

Weimer, charged with robbery, aggravated assault and receiving stolen property in connection with the Aug. 30 robbery of the Golden Apple Produce, waived her right to a preliminary hearing while a hearing for Annis, who is charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property in the matter, was delayed.

According to the criminal complaints filed by state police at Greensburg, Annis and Weimer allegedly entered the Tarrs Post Office at 10:26 a.m. on Aug. 30 and inquired of postal worker Denise Butler about the rental cost of a post office box.

Annis then told Butler, “How about giving me the money out of the cash register?” said police.

When Butler responded that she would not turn over any cash, Annis, said police, moved his right hand toward a pocket, which indicated to Butler he might have a gun, so she retreated to her office.

Police said Weimer and Annis left the scene in a white van.

At 11:44 a.m. the same day, a white mini-van pulled into the Route 119 Golden Apple fruit market and approached the stand attendant, according to the criminal complaints filed by state police at Uniontown.

Weimer allegedly exited the van and brandished a pry bar and told the female to give her the money or she would be killed.

Police said that the female opened the cash register and then ran from the scene, with Weimer allegedly pursuing her with the weapon and telling her not to call police.

The woman, according to police, ran to a nearby business and called police.

Weimer and Annis were later apprehended in Dunbar Township and taken into custody. A pry bar and $60 in cash were found in the van, said police.

Both remain jailed in lieu of a similar $150,000 straight cash bond imposed for the fruit stand robbery and $100,000 percentage bond imposed for conspiring to rob the post office.

No hearing date was set on the latest charges.
