Woman enters guilty pleas
The sister of a homicide suspect accused of shooting a man at a Fayette County housing project has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge associated with allegations that she tried to intimidate witnesses in the case. Kelly M. Leichliter, 24, of Uniontown entered guilty pleas to obstructing the administration of law last week in court, and as part of the plea, will serve two to four months on house arrest. She had also been charged with intimidation of a witness.
Leichliter’s brother, Jason, 27, is charged with killing Thomas Wilson, 29, of Uniontown on July 4. State police allege he shot Wilson five times during a dispute in Bierer Wood Acres, a South Union Township housing project.
Police said Kelly Leichliter and her mother, Barbara Leichliter, approached at least three prosecution witnesses after Jason Leichliter was arrested. The women threatened the witnesses and their family members with physical violence, police alleged.
Barbara Leichliter was similarly charged, but has not entered a plea in the case.
Kelly Leichliter will be sentenced before Judge Ralph C. Warman on Nov. 9, and Jason Leichliter is scheduled for a pretrial conference next month.
