Fire destroys truck

By Steve Ferris 1 min read

A fire that destroyed a box truck filled with old tires and auto parts on East Fayette Street in Uniontown early Friday also damaged a building and a second truck. Fire Chief Myron Nypaver said the vehicle fire at Diamond Shine Cleaning, 75 E. Fayette St., was reported at 2:15 a.m.

The truck, which was parked outside Diamond Shine’s one-story block building, was engulfed in flames, he said.

“It was well involved when we arrived,” Nypaver said.

He said the fire damaged a flatbed car carrier truck that was parked next to the box truck and heat and smoke from the fire caused minor damage to the roof of the building.

Diamond Shine owns all three trucks, Nypaver said.

The business was not open and no one was there when the fire started, he said.

Officials reported no one was injured at the scene.

Nypaver said the incident has been turned over to city police to investigate the cause of the fire.

Firefighters remained at the scene until 3:42 a.m.
