Wilbert E. ‘Gene’ Yowler
Wilbert E. “Gene” Yowler, 65, of Columbia, Pa., died Friday, April 6, 2007 at Essa Flory Hospice Center, after a short illness. He was the husband of Diane L. Rettew-Yowler. He was born in Uniontown, Pa., son of the late Charles E. and Nora E. (Shipley) Yowler.
He was a foundry worker at various foundries and retired from Colonial Metals, Columbia, Pa. He was of the Christian faith and he enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, sports, playing cards and his family.
He had a good sense of humor, enjoyed telling stories over and over and loved his dog “Max”. He was affectionately known by his family as “Tut”.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are seven sons: Charles E. Yowler; James F. Yowler and Michael D. Yowler, all of Lancaster; David E. Rettew of Elizabethtown, Chad M. Rettew of Harrisburg, Scott A. Rettew of Columbia and Steve C. Rettew of Spring Grove; nine grandchildren; one brother: Frank D. Yowler of Conestoga; three sisters: Ruth E. Clymer, Norma J. Logan, both of Uniontown and Shirley R. Roseman of Nevada.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lee “Buck” Yowler, Berlin C. “Bud” Yowler and Jimmy Yowler, three sisters, Audrey Yowler, Elsie Nara and Janet Yowler.
A Memorial Service will be held in the KRAFT-WORKMAN FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 31 SOUTH EIGHTH STREET, COLUMBIA, Pa., on Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at 2:00 p.m.
