Fayette County judge collection complete
A photo collection of past Fayette County judges is now complete. Pictures of the two judges, President Judge Alexander Addison and President Judge Samuel Roberts, were located and hung with the others in the second-floor hallway of the courthouse.
Addison served from 1791-1807 and Roberts from 1807-1818 and 1865-1873. The men were formerly commemorated with a framed notice indicating that their pictures could not be located.
After a story ran in October about the missing judges, a reader found the pictures that completed the project.
The Fayette County Bar Association under the tenure of the former president, attorney James Davis, undertook the project as another means to beautify the courthouse.
Association members, with help from President Judge Conrad B. Capuzzi, found the old photographs in the courthouse’s law library and old newspapers.
The project took several months to complete, and the photos were hung in the hallway, where four of the five courtrooms are located.
