Tedford ‘Ted’ E. Fike

Tedford ‘Ted’ E. Fike, 80, of Uniontown, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007, in the Laurel Ridge Nursing Center. He was born in Confluence, Pa., April 20, 1926, the son of the late Attorney Paul E. C. Fike and Eva Nell Enos Fike.

Ted graduated from Confluence High School with the Class of 1943, Mercersburg Academy and Franklin and Marshall College in 1951, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology. He served with the United States Navy during World War II. Ted was an independent insurance agent and owned the Fike Insurance Agency of Uniontown. He was a member of the Jaycees, a Committeeman for the Republican Party, past president and Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis, past president of the Fayette County Easter Seals, past president of the Fayette Association of Independent Insurance Agents, a 60-year member of Laurel Lodge No. 651 F. & A.M., Uniontown Lodge of Perfection, the Pittsburgh Consistory, a member of the Syria Shrine, and an Elder and Trustee of Trinity United Presbyterian Church.

Ted is survived by his wife of 57 years, A. Elaine Just Fike; two sons: Russell and his wife, Mary, and Mark and his wife, Joy, of Uniontown; two daughters: Susan Ritz and her husband, Joe of Connellsville, and Claudia Billings and her husband, Bob of Maumee, Ohio; five grandchildren: Brad Fike, Kristin Fike, Gregory Fike, Caitlin Fike, and Leigh Hudson; 2 great-grandchildren: Charley Fike and Lukas Hudson; a brother, Robert Fike and his wife, Betty of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a sister, Nancy Muma and her , Hank, of Towson, Md.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa, where friends will be received on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday, April 12, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, April 13, 2007, at 11 a.m., in the Trinity United Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Michael I. Orstead officiating.

Laurel Lodge 651 F. & A.M. will conduct Masonic services at 7:30 p.m., on Thursday, April 12, 2007.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Trinity United Presbyterian Church Organ Fund, 79 West Fayette Street, Uniontown, Pa., 15401.
