State police are advising the public to beware of a man posing as a trooper. Police said the man allegedly stopped a woman in Uniontown early Friday evening.

In a written report, trooper Daniel Barnhart said the unidentified 19-year-old woman was traveling on Connellsville Street around 5 p.m. when she noticed a person following her.

Barnhart said the woman pulled over and that the man approached her vehicle and told the woman he as a state trooper.

The woman, according to Barnhart, said the man told her he had to follow her to her residence.

Police said the woman drove to her Juniata Road residence in Dunbar Township and that the man followed her.

Once there, Barnhart said the man asked the women to see her driver’s license and that she gave it to him.

Barnhart said the man looked at the license, then returned it to the woman and left.

The man, according to police, is a white male, between 25 and 35 years old, with blue eyes and brown hair. He is approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and 180 pounds with a muscular build, police said.

Barnhart said the woman described the man as being “clean cut,” noting that the suspect wore a maroon sweater and dark blue jeans.

The suspect was last seen driving a silver Dodge Neon with chrome grill and deep tread tires. Police said the woman said the vehicle had a large scratch on the hood, and that the front tires appeared larger than the rear tires.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Uniontown state police barrack at 724-439-7111 and reference incident number B04-1574922.
