Local woman to appear on CNBC
A former Uniontown woman will appear on CNBC between 9:30 and 10 a.m. Thursday. Debra K. Brede, owner of D.K. Brede Investment Management Co. Inc. of Needham, Mass., will be interviewed by CNBC’s Mark Haines and Erin Burnett on “Squawk on the Street.’
“My interview should last about five minutes,’ Brede said. “They have asked me to give my thoughts on the market, any sector likes or dislikes and any specific points I want to get across,’ she added.
According to CNBC’s Web site, “Squawk on the Street” gives viewers all the up-to-the minute news they need from every major market around the world. The show not only reports the headlines of the day.
Brede, who opened her own investment management company in 1989, a firm that serves corporations, municipalities, retirement plan trusts, charitable trusts and high net worth individuals, also recently completed an interview with Business Week magazine on ABC Cost Accounting for small-to-medium sized service businesses
Brede said Robert Kaplan, one of her Harvard Business School professors, referred her to Business Week. She graduated from Harvard Business School in March completing the three year owner/president management program.
Kaplan teaches activity based cost accounting, which links cost and performance management systems to strategy implementation and operational excellence.
Business Week plans to run the article in early June in their Small Biz publication.
Boston Magazine in March named her as one of the top 20 high-end investment managers in the Boston area and in June Barron’s named her as one of the Top 100 Women Financial Advisors in the country. A 1973 graduate of Laurel Highlands High School, Brede is the daughter of Dolores A. Farrier of Uniontown and J. Lloyd and Clara Kendall of Smithfield.
