Steven ‘Steve’ H. Machinia
Steven ‘Steve’ H. Machinia, 84 of Uniontown, Pa., died Tuesday, April 17, 2007, in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. He was born January 10, 1923, in Smithfield, Pa., son of the late John Machinia and Anna Muholik Machinia Jerome.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Helen Mae Machinia, son, James Machinia and brothers and sisters, Joe, John and Mary Machinia, Amadee Jerome, Martha Campbell, Ann Padlo and Sue Bilek.
He was the last surviving member of his parent’s immediate family.
Steve was employed as a coal miner with United States Steel Maple Creek Mine for 38 years until his retirement and was a member of UMWA Local 1248.
He also was a member of the Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church of Fairchance, Pa., and also attended the Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church of Uniontown, Pa.
Surviving are his loving wife, Frances M. Machinia; step daughter, Lunette of Uniontown, Pa.; and her close companion, Sam of Pittsburgh, Pa.; daughter-in-law, Camille Machinia; and grandson, Jimmy Machinia of Smithfield, Pa. Also surviving are his half sister, Louise Seiaman and husband, Joseph of Ronco, Pa.; half brothers: Fred Jerome of Cleveland, Ohio, and Augustine Jerome and wife, Marian of Fairchance, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today, April 20, 2007, until 9:30 a.m., when a Prayer Service will be held. A Mass of Christian Burial follows in the Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church in Fairchance, Pa., at 10 a.m., with Rev. Father Andrew M. Kawecki as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, Fairchance, Pa.
