Curtis Coffman Newman

Curtis Coffman Newman, age 93, a long-time resident of McClellandtown, Pa., passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 19, 2007, in Laurel Ridge Center, Uniontown, Pa. He was the son of Andrew Eugene Newman and Mabel (Louvara) Coffman.

Curt graduated from the now former German Township High School.

He was a Life Member of the McClellandtown Volunteer Fire Company, the founder of the McClellandtown Car Show (now in its 35th year), and a member of the Antique Car Club of America and also the Model A Ford Car Club of America.

He was a mechanic, retired from United States Steel after 46 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Armeda J. (Schiffbauer) Newman in 1999, a son, Lowell Curtis Newman in 1981, son-in-law, Grover William Galloway in 1999, two brothers, Clarence Newman and Paul Newman and two sisters, Elizabeth Woodward and Wilma Wood.

He is survived by his daughter, Leona Lea Galloway of Masontown, Pa.; son, Lindsley Linn Newman and his wife, Karen, of McClellandtown; and six grandchildren: William Mark Galloway, Wesley Riffle Galloway, Heidi Sue Ezzi and her husband, Pete, Molly Elizabeth Newman, Abby Linn Newman and Rachel Grace Newman.

The family received friends in the H. DAVID McELROY FUNERAL HOME, 803 Main Street, McClellandtown, Pa., today (Sunday, April 22) until 2 p.m., the hour of Service in the Funeral Home with the Rev. Roland O’Brien officiating.

Interment will follow in Jacobs Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation was also held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The McClellandtown Volunteer Fire Company conducted a Fireman’s Memorial Service in the Funeral Home on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
