Paul B. ‘Pow Wow’ Yedrzeyek
Paul B. ‘Pow Wow’ Yedrzeyek, 90, of Searights, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2007, in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born August 28, 1916, in Keisterville, the son of the late Pete and Caroline Matras Yedrzeyek.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Pete and Richard Yedrzeyek, and two sisters, Alberta Yedrzeyek and Veronica Augustine.
Paul was a member of Saint Hedwig Roman Catholic Church in Smock, a retired motorman for Robena Mines, served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II, a member of WMWA District 2, Local 6321, Catholic War Veterans, Keisterville Sportsman’s Club,
American Legion 753, New Salem, VFW, Post 47, Uniontown, Big Ten Hall of Fame and the Polish Club.
He is survived by his wife, Florence Roskey Yedrzeyek; two sisters: Blanche Bush of Port Charlotte, Florida, and Ann Giordano of Orlando, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, New Salem, on Friday, February 2, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, February 3, 2007, until 9:15 a.m., when Prayers of Transfer will be offered. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m., in Saint Hedwig Roman Catholic Church, Smock, with the Rev. Father John A. Sedlak as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in the Oak Lawn Cemetery, Uniontown.
A Vigil Service will be held on Friday evening at 8 p.m., in the funeral home.
The Rosary Confraternity will recite the partner parish rosary at 3:30 p.m., on Friday in the funeral home.
Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by the American Legion Post 753, New Salem.
