Waynesburg man found guilty of numerous sex charges
A Waynesburg man arrested last year for having sex with two underage girls on several occasions was found guilty of numerous sex charges by a Greene County jury Wednesday. Daniel Wayne Conner, 21, was found guilty of one felony count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and eight felony counts each of aggravated indecent assault of a child and statutory sexual assault, and eight misdemeanor counts each of indecent assault and corruption of minors after committing sexual acts with a 14-year-old Waynesburg girl in April 2006.
Conner also was convicted of one felony count each of aggravated indecent assault of a child, statutory sexual assault and a misdemeanor count of corruption of minors after committing sexual acts with a 15-year-old girl, also from Waynesburg.
The jury deliberated for 21/2 hours before returning with a guilty verdict. The trial, which began Tuesday, was presided over by President Judge H. Terry Grimes.
Sentencing was deferred, pending a pre-sentence investigation.
Waynesburg police arrested Conner on May 30 on charges stemming from two separate incidents with the two underage girls.
According to the criminal complaint, the mother of the 14-year-old girl called Waynesburg police on May 8 to report that her daughter was having sex with a 20-year-old.
The girl told Waynesburg police Officer Robert Toth, who was investigating the incident, that she had sexual intercourse with Conner eight times between April 14 and April 23 and that she was a willing participant, the complaint states.
Toth then spoke with the 15-year-old on May 10, who reported that she had sexual intercourse with Conner on April 17 and that she was a willing participant, the complaint states.
Toth interviewed Conner on May 12, who admitted to having sexual intercourse with the two juveniles.
First Assistant District Attorney Linda Chambers, who prosecuted the case, said on Wednesday that she was “very pleased” with the verdict.
