Consumer programs set
HARRISBURG – State Attorney General Tom Corbett’s Bureau of Consumer Protection announced a series of consumer education programs as part of annual National Consumer Protection Week, Saturday through Saturday. The theme for this year’s Consumer Protection Week is “Read Up, Reach Out and Be an Informed Consumer”
“Last year more than 45,000 consumers contacted the Attorney General’s office to report scams such as misleading solicitations, financial scams, unauthorized credit card charges and shoddy contractors,” Corbett said. “This year, during Consumer Protection Week, I encourage all Pennsylvanians to learn more about protecting themselves and avoiding scams.”
During “Consumer Protection Week,” attorneys and agents with the Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection will participate in consumer education fairs and other activities statewide to provide information and answer consumers’ questions at the following locations:
Pittsburgh
– The Mall at Robinson, Allegheny County; from 9 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Feb. 14
– Beaver Valley Mall, Beaver County; from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 14.
In addition to the consumer fairs being held across the state, a number of speeches will also be given at the following locations:
– Mount Pleasant Senior Center, 11 a.m. Monday.
– Waynesburg Senior Center, 11 a.m. Thursday.
– Perryopolis Senior Center, 11 a.m. Friday.
