1 min read

CALIFORNIA – The California Area Historical Society elected officers at its annual meeting on Jan. 25. Elected to serve for calendar year 2007 are President Patricia Cowen; Vice President Patricia Wilson; Secretary Earl Whetsel; Treasurer Gerald Cowen; and Arthur Gregg, member-at-large. New directors joining the board of managers are Jeannie Gillis King of Belle Vernon; Kathryn McDonald Tuday of California; and Earl Whetsel of Uniontown.

Patricia Cowen returns for a second term as president, having served in that capacity previously in 2000. “Our goals for 2007 return to our founding,” Cowen said, “as our top priority is to preserve and transcribe the original California council minutes which is a prized collection of the society.”

The society was formed in 1992 to preserve the history of the area and the significance of its settlers.
