A 14-year-old boy who died in a two-vehicle accident in Franklin Township Saturday afternoon has been identified. Fayette County Coroner Dr. Phillip E. Reilly identified the boy Sunday as being Josh Holt of 152 Foster Ave., Uniontown.

Reilly said Holt sustained blunt force trauma to the head, face, upper chest and lower left side of his body and was pronounced dead at Uniontown Hospital at 5:41 p.m.

The accident, according to state police, occurred at the intersection of Route 51 and Tippecanoe Road.

Police said vehicles driven Correy Isaac, 35, of Brownsville and Anthony Pesuti Jr., 40, of Uniontown crashed at 4:20 p.m., smashing the right front passenger side of Isaac’s vehicle and causing Pesuti’s vehicle to roll.

Holt and two other juveniles – a 5-year-old and a 12-year-old – were passengers in Isaac’s vehicle, police said.

Isaac and both children sustained moderate injuries and were flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital and Children’s Hospital respectively, according to police.

Police said Pesuti sustained moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Uniontown Hospital.

Kathleen Pesuti, 37, of Uniontown also sustained moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Uniontown Hospital, police said. An 11-month-old child and a 3-year-old child, both also passenger’s in Pesuti’s vehicle, were treated for minor to moderate injuries at Uniontown Hospital, police said.

Reilly said Holt was taken to Uniontown Hospital where the medical staff gave him multiple blood transfusions and unsuccessfully tried to resuscitate him.

Holt was allegedly in the back seat of Isaac’s vehicle and was believed to not have been wearing a seatbelt, Reilly said.

Reilly said the probable cause of Holt’s death was blood loss and blunt force trauma, noting that the boy sustained several lacerations to the scalp and face, rib fractures, lung contusions and fractured bones in his left leg.

A spokesperson for Fayette County 911 said nine ambulances and three medical helicopters were on scene. Smock and Perry volunteer fire departments assisted, as did Flatwoods and DL&V.

State police in Belle Vernon are investigating the accident.

Neither the medical condition for Isaac nor the two children in his vehicle was available Sunday.

A spokeswoman for Uniontown Hospital said she could not release any information in regards to Pesuti and the occupants of his vehicle.

No further information was available.
