Cumberland moves saved money to other project
CUMBERLAND TWP. – Township supervisors said Monday that money saved in one sewer line project will help pay for another. William C. Groves, chairman of the board of supervisors, said the money the township saved in the Serbiantown sewer line project by receiving a $20,000 grant from Greene County will go toward the cost of installing a line in Crucible.
Groves said the supervisors signed a grant contract for the Serbiantown project, installation of a new 1,100-foot line has been completed and the 14 affected residents are in the process of tapping in.
“We’ve got the line in and ready to work,” Groves said. The total project cost was approximately $40,000, he said.
Township money that was not spent due to the grant will help pay for installing sewer line in the spring to serve nine homes on the south side of Crucible, Groves said.
In unrelated business, the supervisors approved raising all full-time employees’ life insurance from $20,000 to $30,000 at a cost of $900 a year.
The township auditors, at their reorganization meeting, raised the life insurance for township supervisors working as employees from $20,000 to $30,000, Groves said.
In other business, the supervisors accepted the resignations of Donna Jean Broadwater and Kenneth Dudics from the township zoning hearing board. Groves said the supervisors appreciated their service.
Joseph Sokol was appointed to serve the remainder of Dudics’ term.
