No one injured in Bullskin fire
BULLSKIN TWP. – Assistant Fire Chief Larry Stillwagon said no one was injured late Friday afternoon when fire broke out at 200 W. Pennsville Road. According to Stillwagon, Melvin McFadden was washing clothes in the laundry room of the house, which was being used for storage, when the fire broke out. Stillwagon said the fire that started sometime after 4 p.m. was contained to the laundry room by firefighters.
“Apparently he (McFadden) went in there to wash some clothes,” said Stillwagon. “He said he walked into his office and then back into the laundry room, where he saw fire coming up behind the washer.”
Stillwagon said he believes that the pump on the motor of the washer was frozen, which caused it to catch the belt on fire. Stillwagon said there was nothing else there that could have started the fire.
Everson and Connellsville Township assisted Bullskin Township in addition to Scottdale’s Rapid Intervention Team and Fayette EMS. Mount Pleasant and Morrell volunteer fire departments were on standby.
