Alice Elizabeth Retkofsky Newcomer
Alice Elizabeth Retkofsky Newcomer, age 86, of Uniontown, Pa., passed peacefully away on Friday, February 9, 2007, in Girard, Pa., with her loving family by her side. She was born May 26, 1920, in Uniontown, Pa.
Alice was a member of Central Christian Church and The Circle Club both in Uniontown and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies National Auxiliary and was a former bowler with the Gem League.
She was formerly employed as a receptionist at the Fayette Cable Company.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Edward and Laura Chambers Retkofsky, her husband, Donald Eugene Newcomer, and a brother, Carl P. Retkofsky.
Surviving are a daughter, Janet Rae Wingard and her husband, Hobart, of Sun City West, Arizona; two sons: Donald Eugene Newcomer Jr. and his wife, Joanne, of Erie, Pa., and Lawrence Richard Newcomer of Dunnellon, Florida; ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; a sister, Elva Conroy of Uniontown, Pa.; and a brother, Walter Wayne Retkofsky of Apopka, Florida.
Friends will be received in the JEROME W. SHELL FUNERAL HOME, 164 South Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., today (Monday, February 12) until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. Art Mace officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Uniontown.
Visitation was also held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The Uniontown Circle Club held services in the Funeral Home on Sunday at 7:15 p.m.
