Wilbur Eugene “Wib” Williams
Wilbur Eugene “Wib” Williams, age 83, of Fairchance, Pa., passed away peacefully on Friday morning, February 9, 2007, in his home. He was born April 3, 1923, in Ohio, the son of Harvey Williams and Maude Manning Williams.
Wib was a member of the Saints Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church, Fairchance.
He was an avid archer and golfer and a member of the Turkey Federation and the Father Anthony’s Golf League.
Wib enjoyed fishing and spending time on his boat.
He was a United States Veteran who served in the Navy during World War II.
He retired from United States Steel’s Edgar Thompson Works in Braddock, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters and brothers, Gladys Robinson, Virginia Rucker, Dexter Williams, and twin sister and brother, Cindy and Billy.
Wib is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Sophie M. Gosik Williams; and his loving and devoted children: Linda Callaghan of Turtle Creek, Pa., Richard E. Williams and his fianc?e, Regina McCann, of White Oak, Pa., and Raymond N. Williams and his wife, Maureen, of Tarrs, Pa. He is also survived by his grandchildren, whom he cherished: Mindy O’Malley and her husband Perry, Matthew Callaghan and Nicole, Richard Williams Jr. and his wife Nicole, Jenny Marie Williams, Ray Williams Jr. and his wife Jen, and Christine; and his loving great-grandchildren: Zachary, Kaitlyn, Richard III, Nicholas, Colin, Courtney, Todd, Rachel and Paige.
Friends will be received in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., today, February 12, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday morning, February 13, 2007, until 10:15 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 11 a.m. in Saints Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church, Fairchance, with the Rev. Father Andrew M. Kawecki as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Fairchance, where Military Honors will be accorded by the General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103, Hopwood.
The Rosary will be said by the Saints Cyril and Methodius Confraternity of Christian Mothers in the Funeral Home today at 4 p.m.
Parish Wake Service will be held this evening at 8:30 p.m.
Visitation was also held Sunday, February 11, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
