DUNBAR – State police said they expect to file charges Tuesday afternoon against an Iraqi war veteran accused of setting fire to his ex-girlfriend’s mobile home. Salvatore “Sam” Ross Jr. of Dunbar is accused of setting the home on fire around 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to state police.
Charges also are being filed against Ross after he assaulted a responding firefighter, police confirmed.
Ross is a former U.S. Army private with the 82nd Airborne, 307th Engineering Battalion. He was injured in May 2003 when a cluster of bombs exploded southwest of Baghdad, Iraq, causing him to lose his eyesight and part of his left leg.
