George William Hillen
George William Hillen, 75, of Masontown, passed away Monday, February 12, 2007, at home with loved ones at his side. Mr. Hillen was born in Smithfield, Pa., on July 10, 1931, the son of the late Charles E. and Iola (Hutzel) Hillen.
George was a coal miner, and a member of the Masontown Valley Lodge 459 and the F&AM of Pennsylvania.
He was the widower of Dorothy (Moser) Hillen.
He served in the United States Army as a Sergeant T in the Korean War, serving 11 months on the front lines. George was a member of the “Red Devils” 92 Armored F.A.B.N. Korea.
Surviving are his sons: Jeffrey husband of Teresa Hillen of Florida, Garry husband of Ema Hillen of Texas, and Scott Hillen of Leckrone, Pa.; grandchildren, Jeffrey Hillen, and Amy Hillen; beloved companion, Helen Rumenschneider and her family; sisters: Ann wife of George Kirchner of Perryopolis, Pa., Jerri wife of Harvey Mahan of Masontown, Pa., Aileen wife of Joe Marvec of Virginia and Mary Jane wife of Jim Olsen of Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents George was predeceased by his loving wife, Dorothy “Dee” Moser, two infant brothers, John Harvey and Ernest Lee, brother, Donald Hillen.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH FUNERAL HOME.
Funeral Service in the funeral home chapel at John S. Maykuth , Jr. Funeral Home, at 10 a.m., on Friday, February 16, 2007, with the Rev. Michael Long officiating.
The Masonic Lodge Service will be held at 7 p.m., on Thursday in the Funeral Home by Greendale Cemetery, Masontown.
Military Rites will be accorded at the graveside by the Masontown VFW and the American Legion.
