George William Hillen
George William Hillen, 75, of Masontown, passed away Monday, February 12, 2007, at home with loved ones at his side. Mr. Hillen was born in Smithfield, Pa., on July 10, 1931, the son of the late Charles E. and Iola (Hutzel) Hillen.
George was a coal miner, and a member of the Masontown Valley Lodge 459 F&AM of Pennsylvania.
He was the widower of Dorothy (Moser) Hillen.
He served in the United States Army as a Sergeant T in the Korean War, serving 11 months on the front lines. George was a member of the “Red Devils” 92 Armored F.A.B.N. Korea.
Surviving are his sons: Jeffery husband of Teresa Hillen of Florida, Barry husband of Emma Hillen of Texas, and Scott Hillen of Leckrone, Pa.; grandchildren, Jeffery Hillen, and Amy Hillen; beloved companion, Helen Rumenschneider and her family; sisters: Ann wife of George Kirchner of Perryopolis, Pa., Jerri wife of Harvey Mahan of Masontown, Pa., Aileen wife of Joe Marvec of Virginia and Mary Jane wife of Jim Olsen of Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents George was predeceased by his loving wife, Dorothy “Dee” Moser Hillen, two infant brothers, John Harvey and Ernest Lee, brother, Donald Hillen.
Visitation will be held today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR., FUNERAL HOME.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday February 16, 2007, at 10 a.m., in the John S. Maykuth, Jr. Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Long officiating.
Burial will be held in the Greendale Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Masontown VFW, and the American Legion.
The Masonic Lodge 459 will hold services at 7 p.m., today in the Funeral Home.
