Volunteers sought Area residents can provide a summertime oasis to an inner-city child through the Fresh Air Fund again this year.
The Fresh Air Fund is seeking families to volunteer as hosts for its Friendly Town program. There are no financial requirements, and the host family can choose the age and gender of their visitor. First-time visitors range in age from age 6 to 12 and can be invited back through the program until age 18.

Workshop planned
The Student Aid Office from Penn State Fayette, the Eberly Campus, is sponsoring a free workshop on completing the 2007/08 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Parents of high school seniors should have a particular interest in attending the workshop and filing their FAFSA early. The workshop will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at St. Paul’s A.M.E. Church, 187 Morgantown St., Uniontown.
Those attending need to bring their: 2006 federal income tax return and W-2 forms (parent and student), Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and records of any other untaxed income received such as Social Security and veterans benefits.

Garbage collection in Uniontown was suspended Wednesday because of poor road conditions. Councilman Bob Cerjanec said crews would try to get caught up through the rest of the week, including Saturday, if necessary.
