Vincenzo Amendola

Vincenzo Amendola, 86, formerly of Monessen passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2007, in the Uniontown Hospital. Born in Italy on September 7, 1920, he was the son of the late Luigi and Maria Gotti Amendola.

He retired from the Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Company Monessen Plant. He was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, the Sons of Italy, the Croatian Club, and the Monessen Volunteer Fire Company 2 Social Club. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.

Besides his parents he was proceeded in death by his wife, Rita, and a son-in-law, Luigi Stringa and a grand-son-in-law, John Guseman.

He is survived by two daughters and a son in law: Linda and John Santo of Vanderbilt, and Louise Stringa of Monessen; one son and daughter-in-law, Vincenzo ‘Vincent’ and Amy Amendola of Pittsburgh; eight grandchildren: Christina and Kenny Brumley of Winchester, Va., Angela and Brett Kist of Greenville S.C., Jennifer and Ray Brumley of Uniontown, Dianna and Brian Cavanaugh of Stonehand, Ma., John Stringa of Monessen, Joe and Stephanie Stringa of Monessen, Vincent Amendola of Pittsburgh, and Renee Amendola of Pittsburgh; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Amendola of Carroll Township and one sister and brother-in-law, Nella and John Panarella of Dormont, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Friday from 2 until 9 p.m., in the ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen (724-684-3700). A Blessing Service will be held on Saturday at 11:30 a.m., in the funeral home followed by a noon Funeral Mass in the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church Monessen.

Entombment will follow in Grandview Cemetery Monessen.
