Markleysburg man charged in sex probe
A Fayette County man accused of molesting a girl in Garrett County, Md., was arrested in Markleysburg, according to state police. Jeffrey Eugene Jacobs, 31, of 476 Braddock Road, Markleysburg, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Wendy Dennis in North Union Township after state police took him into custody at his home last month.
Jacobs was charged with single counts of child abuse by molestation or exploitation, fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault in Maryland following the allegations regarding incidents in 2005 and 2006, according to trooper Juan J. Curry.
Police said the incident occurred at a residence on Stacy Fike Lane in Friendsville.
According to the arrest warrant issued by the District Court of Maryland, Jacobs sexually molested a girl who was a resident in his home in Friendsville.
The nature of the alleged molestation and assault of the child and the age of the victim were not revealed, but court records do indicate the child was under the age of 13 at the time. A warrant was issued for Jacobs’ arrest in July 2006.
Jacobs was placed in the Fayette County Prison on $25,000 bond and posted 10 percent bail on Feb. 6.
According to Dennis, Jacobs is scheduled for extradition to Garrett County for trial.
