Uniontown Shop adds tanning beds, services

Bloominhair is now Bloominhair and Tanning.

Located at 934 Morgantown St., Uniontown, the shop has added new Wolf Montego Bay beds complete with face tanners, in-bed timing system and optional fan systems. The rooms are private and individually decorated in beach or Asian themes. Monthly and yearly packages are available.

Bloominhair also has added Retro hair care and Italy hair color. Emily Bloom, owner, and Christa Williams, manager, are certified educators with Retro Hair Co. and part of the regional team.

New services offered at the shop include a Gothic romantic collection and diamond cutter color techniques. The shop provides advanced razor cutting, corrective color, perms, updo’s and offers a black hair care specialist on staff.

Masontown

Michalik named assistant VP

Parkvale Bank’s board of directors recently elected Janet E. Michalik, Masontown branch manager, as an assistant vice president. With more than 30 years of banking experience, she joined Parkvale in 2002 when the bank acquired the Second National Bank of Masontown.

Michalik’s duties include overseeing the daily operations and employees of a full-service bank branch. Her enthusiasm for programs designed to heighten sales and customer service has helped her employees earn numerous awards.

Thanks to Michalik’s leadership and team spirit, she recently became the leader of one of Parkvale’s seven charity teams. As leader of the Tri-Starz Team, which consists of employees from five offices in Fayette, one in Allegheny and one in Washington County, she supports the Fayette County Children and Youth Services (CYS). Under Michalik’s direction, the Tri-Starz will raise funds and contribute time and energy to make a difference in the lives of people who depend on CYS for assistance. She is also an active member of her local Kiwanis club.

Michalik earned an advanced business diploma from the Fayette County Area Vocational-Technical School.

College schedules lecture on economy

The impact of entrepreneurship on the economy of southwestern Pennsylvania is the topic of a lecture to be given at St. Vincent College at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Science Center amphitheatre. Steven G. Zylstra, president and chief executive officer of the Pittsburgh Technology Council, will deliver the lecture. Admission is free, and no reservations are required.

The St. Vincent College Alex G. McKenna School of Business, Economics and Government’s Business Lecture Series in cooperation with the Small Business Development Center will present this lecture.

Since 1983, the Pittsburgh Technology Council has been the principal point of connection for companies from four primary clusters of the technology industry that are represented by a critical mass of businesses in southwestern Pennsylvania manufacturing/materials and environmental technology.

In addition to his roles at the Pittsburgh Technology Council, Zylstra serves as the CEO of the Catalyst Connection, the Doyle Center for Manufacturing Technology and the Pennsylvania NanoMaterials Commercialization Center.

Prior to arriving in Pittsburgh, Zylstra was the director of business development for Simula Technologies Inc. of Phoenix, Ariz., since 1995. Simula specializes in the research, development and testing of high-technology transportation seating and safety systems, advanced polymers, composite technologies and ballistic armor systems.
