Mike “Orve” Bacha

Mike “Orve” Bacha, 85 years, of Collier, Uniontown, Pa., died Saturday, February 17, 2007, in his home. He was born November 5, 1921, in Carpentertown, Pa., the son of Andy Bacha and Mary Hatala Bacha.

“Orve” was very athletic. He played in the Big Ten Baseball League and was a former scout for the Philadelphia Phillies.

He was employed in the United States Steel’s coal mines earlier in his life and from 1959 to 1996 was a Georges Township Road Supervisor.

“Orve” was also very involved in local politics and was a very avid hunter.

He was a member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church in Fairchance.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers and sisters, Andrew Bacha, Ann Malik, John Bacha, Joseph Bacha, Mary Bacha, Steve Bacha, Kathryn Kovalic, Elizabeth Kramm, Frank Bacha and Helen Morgan.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Mary Bernadette Shemik Bacha; his brother, George Bacha and his wife Ann, Uniontown, Pa.; his sister Josephine Lehman and her husband Charles, Uniontown, Pa.; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, February 22, 2007, until 11 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held with the Rev. Father Andrew M. Kawecki officiating.

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, Fairchance, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ss. Cyril & Methodius Roman Catholic Church, 50 North Morgantown Street, Fairchance, PA 15436.
