Elizabeth “Libby” Pochron

Elizabeth “Libby” Pochron, 82, of Dry Tavern, died Sunday, February 18, 2007, in her home surrounded by her family after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 28, 1924, in Fredericktown, a daughter of the late Dominick and Elizabeth Vincenti Giovanelli.

Mrs. Pochron was a 1943 graduate of East Bethlehem Township High School.

Libby was a devoted wife and mother who spent most of her life working from home for the family business, Dry Tavern True Value, where she contributed to its success for over 50 years. She enjoyed spending time with her loving children and grandchildren who affectionately called her “Dunny”. Libby was loved by everyone she came in contact with and especially loved helping others. Later in life, Libby enjoyed going with her friends to the Vestaburg Senior Citizens Center where they did numerous activities.

While she was ill, Libby became especially fond of her personal care providers, Clarissa Ohler and Jean Stickles who were at her bedside at the time of her passing.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rices Landing.

On July 16, 1955 she married John W. Pochron, Sr., who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Renee Tracanna of Pittsburgh; four sons, Robert Wilson and his wife Donna of Fredericktown, Clyde Tracanna and his wife Suzanna of Dry Tavern, John Pochron Jr. and his wife Karen of Dry Tavern, and Mark Pochron and his wife Lori of Rices Landing; eight grandchildren, Cathy McCollum, Robert Wilson Jr., Jayme Kurowski, Nathan Tracanna, Justin Tracanna, John Pochron III, Marissa Pochron, and Michael Pochron; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Della Windley of Vero Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are four brothers, William “Braz” Giovanelli, Otto Giovanelli, Pete Giovanelli, and Dominick Giovanelli.

Friends will be received in the BEHM FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, Supervisor, today from 6 to 9 pm, and 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday where a Blessing Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 22, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Rices Landing, with the Rev. John M. Bauer as celebrant.

Entombment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park. A prayer service will be held at today at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Southwestern PA Region, 320 Bilmar Dr., Pittsburgh PA 15205 or the Alzheimer’s Foundation, 100 W. Station Square Drive, Suite 500, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
