Joseph W. Stroncheck, 91, of Smock, Pa., died on Sunday, February 18, 2007. He was born July 17, 1915, in Lambert, Pa., son of John and Agnes (Stock) Stroncheck.

His parents, wife, Julia (Oleyar) Stroncheck, sisters, Rose Hoist, Helen Ludwig, Mary Leone, Anna Quinn, and Frances Parker, brothers, Thomas, Edward, Frankie, and Johnny and two infant siblings preceded him in death.

He was a member of St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church, the United Mine Workers of America, the Western Pennsylvania Pigeon Club, Smock Community Recreation Center and the Smock Historical Society.

Surviving are his children, Louise Burke and her husband Bill, John Stroncheck and his wife Janet, sister, Agnes Milan and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, February 21, 2007, until 9:15 a.m. when prayers of transfer will be said.

A mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Father John A. Sedlak as celebrant.

Interment will be held at St. Hedwig Cemetery, Smock, Pa.

The parish vigil service will be held today at 3:30 pm and the Rosary Confraternity will pray the Partner Parish’s Rosary at 2:45 pm

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church, Smock, Pa.
