William R. “Bill” Smitley

William R. “Bill” Smitley, 63, of Point Marion, Pa., died Sunday, February 18, 2007, in the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia. He was born on April 18, 1943, in Dunbar, Pa., the son of the late Louis and Sadie Thorpe Smitley.

He attended the Nilan Apostolic Church, and had been employed for 17 years at Sterling Faucet Corp. in Morgantown.

Predeceased are two brothers, Randall and Edward Smitley, and a sister, Ella Lambert.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta McAllister Smitley; four children, Robert Brownfield of Gans, Pa., William Charles Brownfield, Roxanne McCourt, and Elizabeth Green, all of Point Marion; two step-children, Diane Cummings of Gans and Paul Brownfield of Point Marion; 16 grandchildren; five brothers, Adron Smitley of Orrville, Ohio, Rupert “Mike” Smitley of Smithfield, Charles “Chug” Smitley of Fairchance, and Marvin Smitley of Point Marion; and four sisters, Betty Corob, Rose Aron, and Sarah Johnson, all of Point Marion, and Joann Rimmel of Dilliner.

Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, today from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday until 11 a.m. the hour of service, with the Rev. Charles Ruble officiating.

Interment follows in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion.
