Zimmerlink announces campaign plans
Fayette County Commissioner Angela M. Zimmerlink has officially become the first Republican to announce she is seeking her party’s nomination in the May 15 municipal primary. In announcing her intention to seek re-election, Zimmerlink said she is currently securing signatures to have her name placed on the Republican ballot. The last day to circulate and file nomination petitions is March 6.
“The voters of Fayette County believed in me when they elected me as their county commissioner and since taking office I have made decisions that were in the best interest of the entire county,” Zimmerlink said.
In addition to serving as chairwoman of the board of commissioners, Zimmerlink is also chairwoman of the Fayette County Housing Authority, a position she has held since 2004. She was first appointed to the FCHA in 1998.
Prior to her election four years ago, Zimmerlink worked full time as a paralegal in Greensburg. Her husband of 23 years, Tom, is the owner/operator of Zimmerlink’s Paint N More Store in Charleroi, and the Zimmerlinks reside in Redstone Township.
Zimmerlink obtained a bachelor of arts degree in political science/pre law at California University of Pennsylvania and obtained a paralegal certificate from Penn State Fayette.

Four years ago, Zimmerlink and Republican Joseph A. Hardy III won election to the board of commissioners, joining Democrat Vincent A. Vicites to form the first Republican majority board of commissioners since 1932.
In addition to Vicites, two other Democrats, former commissioner Sean M. Cavanagh and former candidate Vincent Zapotosky, have announced their intention to seek their party’s two nominations.
