Mary ‘Peggy’ Fisher
Mary “Peggy” Fisher, 85, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, died Tuesday, February 20, 2007, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Hospital. She was born in Brownsville, Pa.
After graduating from Seton Hill College in Greensburg, Pa., she taught at George Township and Fairchance High Schools. She also taught at Cuyahoga Falls High in Ohio and at Georgian Court College in Lakewood, New Jersey.
She was a member of the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
“Peggy” was a member of the Fayetteville Woman’s Club for 30 years. She also served as President of the Clairway South Hills Garden Club from 1982 to 1984.
She was predeceased by her aunt, Sister Electa Boyle, author of History of the Sisters of Charity from their beginning through 1945. Through her research and documentation, Sister Electa was able to produce the information to canonize Mother Seton. “Peggy” and her husband, Dick made it possible to publish the modern history of the Sisters of Charity.
She is also preceded in death by her son, Rick Fisher.
Surviving are her husband, Dick Fisher of Fayetteville; two daughters: Mary Blaylock and Peggy Banks both of Fayetteville; sister, Patricia Ann Taylor of Fayetteville; four grandchildren: Michael Roller, Megan Karpel, Brian Karpel and Richard L. Fisher, III; one great-granddaughter, Alexandra Emary.
The family will receive friends today, February 23, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the SULLIVAN’S HIGHLAND FUNERAL SERVICE, 610 RAMSEY STREET, FAYETTEVILLE, N.C., (910-484-8108), with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2007, in SAINT ELIZABETH ANN SETON CATHOLIC CHURCH. Entombment will following LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
