Stephen E. Hegedis, 69, of Carmichaels, Pa., died Thursday, February 22, 2007, in Donnell House, Washington, Pa. Mr. Hegedis was a 1955 graduate of Mapletown High School and resided in the Greensboro and Carmichaels areas most of his life.

He served with the United States Army as a marksman in Germany after the Korean Conflict. He worked as a mechanic for the Duquesne Light Warwick Mine and retired in 1986.

Surviving are his mother, Virginia (Marshall) Hegedis of Greensboro; wife, Celesta I. (McCune) Hegedis; sons: Randell Edward Hegedis of Greensboro, Thomas W. Simpkins of Carmichaels and Joshua L. Hegedis at home; four daughters: Stephanie Ann Gusman and her husband, Mark of Fayetteville, N.C., Pam K. Gamble and her husband, Daniel of Morgantown, W.Va., Celesta A. Johnston of Carmichaels and Rhonda Lee Lewellen and her husband, James of Mount Morris, Pa.; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Waybright and her husband, Robert of Medina, Ohio; nieces, nephews and special friend, Doug Stephens.

Family and friends are welcomed from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels, Pa., and until 11 a.m. on Monday, February 26, 2007.
