Morrell VFD event set The Morrell Volunteer Fire Department will host a “Night at the Races” at 7:30 p.m. March 3 at the fire hall.

According to organizers, the fund-raiser will feature 10 horse races and one dog race, along with free food and drinks.

There is a $1 donation to help defray the costs of the event.

All proceeds will distributed between the Connellsville Senior Tigers and the Morrell Volunteer Fire Department.

Meeting planned

District 23 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Ladies Auxiliary will meet at 2 p.m. March 11 at the Uniontown VFW Post 47.

According to officials, reports on the mid-winter conference held recently in Harrisburg will be presented and membership status will be updated. The Ladies Auxiliary will hold its annual memorial service.

Cmdr. James Stois of Normalville and President Lazetta Sidwell of Connellsville urge all posts and auxiliaries to be represented at the meeting.

District 23 comprises Fayette and Somerset counties.

AMVETS to meet

Connellsville AMVETS Post 111 will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday upstairs of the Fairview Club on Fairview Avenue.
