Mary Elizabeth Dugan Hughes, R.N., age 81, years, of Lake Lynn, Pa., died Friday, February 23, 2007, in Mount Macrina Manor, Uniontown, Pa. She was born in Bessemer, Fayette County, Pa., on July 15, 1925, the daughter of Lewis M. Dugan and Mary V. Yeager Dugan.

Mary was a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force who served as a nurse during the Korean Conflict.

After discharge from the Air Force, she remained at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama, as a Registered Nurse until her retirement.

She was Presbyterian by faith.

She was predeceased by her husband, James F. “Red” Hughes, five brothers, Roy, Lewis, Frank, Grover and Robert Dugan, and her parents.

She is survived by three sisters: Viola Medved and her husband Harold, Lake Lynn, Pa., Grace Dugan, Chicago, Illinois, and Ruth Rura and her husband Raymond, Masontown, Pa; one brother, John Dugan and his wife Shirley, Pittsburgh, Pa.; one sister-in-law, Dolores Dugan, Cochranton, Pa.; many nieces and nephews; as well as many friends and relatives of her husband’s in Montgomery, Alabama. Her family and friends were her life!

Friends will be received in the LOUIS E. RUDOLPH FUNERAL HOME, 15 Main Street, Point Marion, Pa., Thomas B. Rudolph, Funeral Director and Supervisor, today (Sunday, February 25, 2007) from 6 until 8 p.m., Monday, February 26, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, February 27, until 11 a.m., when a Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Joey Hickok officiating.

Interment will be in the family cemetery in Gans, Pa.
