Uniontown Man arrested

Joseph James Franks, 33, of Lemont Furnace was charged with simple assault and harassment after he allegedly punched and choked Janel Stewart, 28, of Uniontown in the parking lot of a Morgantown Street tavern at 1:17 a.m. Friday, Uniontown police said.

Franks also allegedly knocked the victim to the ground and threw her against an all-terrain vehicle in which they rode to the bar, police said. The victim, who told police she was 13 weeks pregnant, was treated at Uniontown Hospital. She had bruises on her face, choke marks on her neck and scrapes on her stomach and chest, police said. Franks was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Michael J. Defino Jr. and placed in the Fayette County Prison on $10,000 percentage bail.

Medication stolen

State police said someone stole medication from a locked cabinet in the Jefferson Personal Care Home on Memorial Drive between Monday and Wednesday.

Stove fire doused

The Uniontown Fire Department extinguished a stove that caught fire inside 92 Pershing Court at 2:26 a.m. Friday, city police said. Police said smoke was coming from the windows when they arrived and the fire department put out the fire before it could spread any further. No injuries were reported.

Tire slashed

Southwest Regional police said Lenora Zelenski of Market Street reported that the left front tire on her vehicle was slashed while it was parked behind her home between 7:20 and 8 a.m. Thursday. Police ask anyone with information about the vandalism to call the station at 724-929-8484.

Man injured

State police reported that Lawrence C. Ewing Jr. of Republic suffered major injuries after he allegedly traveled off the right side of New Salem Road at Florence Avenue Thursday at 6 a.m. and struck a fire hydrant and a utility pole before striking another utility pole with the vehicle rolling clockwise and coming to rest on its roof. Police said Ewing was extracted from the vehicle by New Salem Volunteer Fire Company and American Ambulance Company and transported by emergency helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Report issued

State police at the Uniontown Station, Troop B, responded to 1,262 incidents in November that consisted of 403 criminal offenses and 278 criminal arrests while responding to 127 vehicle accidents with one fatal accident, 17 hit-and-run, one fatality, 28 injuries, 51 driving under the influence arrests and 11 driving under the influence related accidents. In addition, police issued 1,280 traffic citations and 566 warnings.

Break-in attempted

Uniontown police said window screens were removed and windows were broken at an unoccupied house at 77 South St. The attempted break-in was reported at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Doors spray-painted

Spray paint was discovered on a door on the Titlow Tavern on Main Street and a door on DiMarco’s Bistro and Cantina on Morgantown Street at 6 a.m. Thursday, Uniontown police said.

Uniontown police said James Estermyer reported at 5:15 p.m. Thursday that an XBox, Sony PlayStation and several computer games were missing from his apartment at 24 Millview St.

Vehicle damaged

State police said someone damaged a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe owned by Don Crow, 53, of 121 Georges Creek Road sometime between midnight and 12 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.

Harassment alleged

State police charged Charles Lincoln, 27, of Memorial Boulevard, Connellsville, with harassment Thursday after he allegedly become involved in a verbal altercation with Linda Stockton, 43, also of Memorial Boulevard at 9:12 p.m. at 2734 Memorial Blvd.

Girl missing

State police in Greensburg are searching for Gabrielle Elizabeth Srubas, 16, after she was reported missing Tuesday from the Vision Quest Facility at 7:30 p.m. Police described Srubas as 5 foot 6 inches tall, 115 pounds with red shoulder length hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, khaki pants and blue slippers with moons and stars on them.

She was possibly traveling to Lansdale, police said.

Two-vehicle accident

State police said vehicles driven by John F. Tracy, 55, and Joseph D. Hill, 20, no addresses given, collided on Route 119 at Penn Street Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. No injures were reported.
