Mary B. Vargo

Mary B. Vargo, 93, of Pittsburgh, Pa., and former longtime resident of Point Marion, Pa., passed away Thursday, January 4, 2007, in the Passavant Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born February 22, 1913, in Fairview, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late James H. and Viola (McDonald) Bircher.

She worked for a while at Houze Glass in Point Marion, and was a member of the Masontown Congregation of the Jehovah’s Witness.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Patricia Hoyson, of Pittsburgh, with whom she has resided for the past several years; a step-daughter, Mary Shriver of Tucson, Arizona; seven grandchildren: Greg Hoyson, Jimmy Hoyson, Tammie Ammon, Terrie Thompson, Holly Davin, Walter Handloser, Jr. and Lisa Kroack; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, James Vargo on October 25, 1990, and by a brother, Albert Bircher, and a sister, Pearl Lee.

Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, today until 1:00 p.m., the hour of service with Scott Shay officiating.

Interment follows in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion.
