Albert J. ‘George’ Slivo (Sliwa)
Albert J. “George” Slivo (Sliwa), age 89, a lifelong resident of Phillips, Uniontown, Pa., passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 4, 2007. He was born on April 20, 1917, in Mount Pleasant, Pa., the son of Joseph and Katherine Slivo.
Albert was a retired barber and a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church.
He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army, a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge.
His parents, wife, Agnes (Marchinchin) Slivo, and brothers, Joseph Slivo Jr., Kaiser Slivo and Sam Slivo, preceded him in death.
Albert was a beloved uncle and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., today (Monday, January 8, 2007) until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Old Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown, with the Rev. Father Douglas E. Dorula, his great-nephew, as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, Hopwood, Pa.
Visitation was also held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Saint Joseph Parish Ministry of Consolation Vigil Service was held in the Funeral Home on Sunday at 3:15 p.m.
