Lenoir Carroll Delehunt, R.N.

Lenoir Carroll Delehunt, R.N., age 82, of Erie, Pa., died Sunday, January 7, 2007, in Saint Vincent Health Center, Erie. Born June 19, 1924, in Uniontown, Pa., she was the daughter of James Edward Carroll and Marie Rodgers Carroll.

After completing her education at Pittsburgh’s Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Lenoir married and moved to Erie where she dedicated her life to caring for her family and helping others.

Until her retirement in 1995, she worked as a Registered Nurse in the Saint Vincent Health Center and, more recently, at the Dr. Gertrude A. Barber National Institute. Her love of family was the motivation behind her desire to help meet the needs of the community.

She was a longtime parishioner at Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Women’s Union.

Lenoir also enjoyed traveling, theatre, bowling, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by John L. Delehunt, her loving husband of 56 years, her parents, and two brothers, James Carroll and Thomas Carroll.

Survivors include her daughters: Kathleen D. Delehunt Kader and her husband, Robert Kader, of Bluffton, South Carolina, and Mary Anne Delehunt Seybert and her husband, John Seybert, of Cowansville, Pa.; sons: James C. Delehunt of Chadds Ford, Pa., Daniel J. Delehunt and his wife, Janine, of Orlando, Florida, William J. Delehunt of Fairview, Pa., and Brian L. Delehunt of Erie; and her eight grandchildren: Sean, Ryan and Ashley Delehunt, Chris, Mark and Jeff Kader, and Adam and Katherine Seybert. She is also survived by four sisters: Margaret Kupfner of Bethel Park, Pa., Mary Louise Boyle of Uniontown, Pa., Adele McDowell of North Huntington, Pa., and Joan Bloom of Meadville, Pa.; by her brother, Patrick Carroll of Cleveland, Ohio; and nieces and nephews.

Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the A. BRUGGER & SONS FUNERAL HOME LLP, 845 East 38th Street at Pine Avenue, Erie, PA 16504 (814-825-2500) where services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2007, at 9 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, East 26th Street at Wallace Street, Erie, with the Reverend Father Richard Tomasone as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dr. Gertrude A. Barber National Institute, 100 Barber Place, Erie, PA 16507 or to the Erie County Special Olympics, 1128 State Street, Erie, PA 16501.
