Martha Ann Nassif Nesser
Martha Ann (Nassif) Nesser, age 76, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on Saturday, January 6, 2007. She was born on October 17, 1930, in Rowlesburg, West Virginia, the daughter of Joseph Nassif and Bertha (John) Nassif.
Martha was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was a member of Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church and a longstanding member of Saint George Ladies Guild and the Home Economics Association of Fayette County.
She was a graduate of West Virginia University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics Education, Food and Nutrition Emphasis, Biological Science and English Minor, and Vocational Certification. She also earned a Master of Science Degree in Nutritional Education and Human Resources.
A Consultant Dietitian and Special Project Coordinator at West Virginia University, she also initiated and supervised management systems in many area professional health care facilities.
Her parents and loving husband, James J. “Lash” Nesser Jr., preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Kathie Pasquarella and her husband, Tony, of Steubenville, Ohio, James J. Nesser III and Joseph M. Nesser both of Uniontown, Pa., Marta “Lynn” Barlow and her husband, Tom, of Kingwood, West Virginia, Vince E. Nesser, Steve Nesser and his wife, Bonnie, Ellie Nesser and Elisa Nesser all of Uniontown, Pa., Marianna Miller and her husband, Randy, of Morgantown, West Virginia, Paula Rossetti and her husband, Chris, of East McKeesport, Pa., and Bertha Nesser of Jeannette, Pa.; beloved grandchildren: Natalie, Valerie, Joe and Nick Pasquarella, Matthew P. Nesser, Hillary, Brigitte and Thomas Barlow Jr., Ashley Nicole Nesser, Stefanie, Corey and Nathan Nesser, Justin, Kristin and Laurin Miller, and Dominic and Mia Rossetti; brothers and sisters: Dr. N. Joseph Nassif and his wife, Beate, of Alexandria, Virginia, Anna Rangus Nassif of Madison, Wisconsin, Dr. Thomas Nassif and his wife, Christina, of Fort Washington, Maryland, and George Simon Nassif of Arlington, Virginia; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where Prayers of Transfer will be said on Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at 9:30 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 50 Jefferson Street, Uniontown, Pa., with the Rev. Father Michael J. Crookston as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint George Ladies Guild, c/o Saint George Maronite Church, Lebanon Terrace, Uniontown, PA 15401 or the Angel Fund (Uniontown Chapter) c/o Saint John Roman Catholic Grade School, 50 Jefferson Street, Uniontown, PA 15401.
Saint George Maronite Service of Ghinnaz with the Rev. Father Joseph David will be held in the funeral home today at 8 p.m.
Visitation was also held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Saint George Parish Rosary was recited in the funeral home on Monday at 4 p.m.
