Eugene S. Eicher
Eugene S. Eicher, 81, of Smithfield, Pa., died Monday, January 8, 2007, and went to be with his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. He was born April 2, 1925, in Mount Pleasant, Pa., son of the late Marion L. Eicher and Vernie L. Shaffer Eicher.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Martha May Morris Eicher on October 25, 2006, and two brothers, Marion Harold Eicher and David Josiah Eicher.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy.
Eugene was a retired telegrapher with the former Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.
He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Uniontown.
Surviving are his three children: James Eugene “Jim” Eicher and wife, Suzanne of New Salem, Pa., Richard W. Eicher and wife, Donna Rae of Uniontown, Pa., and Linda Ann Feipel of Dallas, Oregon; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Mildred Pearl Beard of Taneytown, Maryland, James Millard Eicher of Ruffsdale, Pa., William Clyde Eicher of Harrisburg, Virginia, Ruby Gail Lentz state of Kansas, Richard Wayne Eicher of Covington, Georgia, Garnet Romayne Mueller of Modesto, California, Clifford Dwight Eicher of Tuscon, Arizona and Opal Faye Dunn of Naples, Florida; and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Additional visitation will be held in the Calvary Baptist Church, McClellandtown Road, Uniontown, Pa., on Sunday, January 14, 2007, from 1 to 2 p.m.
Funeral services begin at 2 p.m., with the Pastor Rory Ruder and Pastor Ron Hudson officiating.
Interment will follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa., with military rites being accorded at the graveside by AMVETS Post 103.
