Redevelopment Authority approves lot purchase

By Steve Ferris 1 min read

The Uniontown Redevelopment Authority approved the purchase of a vacant lot on Walnut Street on Tuesday that would be used in a possible housing development. Authority board members unanimously approved buying the lot at 45 Walnut St. for $4,000 from Robert Thorpe.

Executive Director Mark Yauger said a residential development involving the authority, Community Action of Fayette County and Threshold Housing Development of Uniontown would use the lot and some nearby property owned by Community Action.

The authority has applied for state grants to fund the project.

In other business, Yauger said a public hearing to gather input on how to spend the 2007 Community Development Block Grant will be held Jan. 16 at 11:30 a.m. in City Hall.

Yauger also said the authority received six resumes for the compliance assistant’s job.

The compliance assistant would work on the housing rehabilitation program, public improvement projects and grants.

He said he did not know when someone would be hired.
