The Uniontown Rotary Club has named Chris Hunchuck as its December Student of the Month. A senior at Laurel Highlands High School who is enrolled in advanced placement and honors courses, Hunchuck is involved in numerous school activities and organizations, including section leader of the marching, concert and jazz bands and a member of the National Honor Society and math club.
He also has years of involvement in high school sports, including serving as a four-year member of the swim team, where he became captain and gold All-State medallist, and as WPIAL runner on the cross country team.
His activities outside of school include serving as an eight-year member of the Boy Scouts, where he earned the Eagle Scout rank, attaining a black belt in karate, which he participated in for five years, and becoming fourth in the nation on the Junior Engineering Technical Society or JETS team. He also has served on a church basketball league and worked at the Kmart store.
Hunchuck is the son of Lawrence and Mary Hunchuck of Uniontown and plans to attend West Virginia University to major in political science.
