Area man arrested for sexaully assaulting 6-year-old
Cumberland Township police arrested a Carmichaels man on Jan. 4 on charges stemming from allegations that he sexually assaulted a 6-year-old female juvenile on repeated occasions during a seven-month span. David M. O’Hara, 40, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Lou Dayich on felony counts of rape of a child, aggravated indecent assault, sexual assault and statutory sexual assault, and misdemeanor counts of indecent assault, indecent exposure and corruption of minors.
According to the criminal complaint filed by Cumberland Township police, authorities received a sexual assault incident report from Greene County Children and Youth Services on Sept. 14, 2006, which stated that the juvenile was allegedly assaulted by O’Hara at a residence on Greene Valley Road in Cumberland Township from the timeframe of October 2005 through April 2006.
During the subsequent investigation conducted with the cooperation of CYS, authorities determined through interviews with the alleged victim that O’Hara attempted to have sexual intercourse with the juvenile, engaged in indecent contact by touching her inappropriately and exposed himself to her, the complaint states.
Following his arraignment, O’Hara’s bail was set at $25,000 unsecured. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Friday held before Magisterial District Judge Lee Watson.
