3 min read

Daniel Joseph Farrah Sr., 64, of South Connellsville, Pa., passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at his home. He was born October 26, 1942, in Everson, Pa., a son of the late John and Etta Blackburn Farrah.

Daniel will be missed as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was a graduate of the former Scottdale High School with the Class of 1961 and was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Connellsville, Pa.

In countless ways Daniel taught his family that taking care of others is truly important. He began working at the age of 12 as a golf caddie to help support his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and then began working for the company at which he would spend 30 years, Anchor Glass Container Corporation in South Connellsville.

Daniel is survived by his dearly loved wife Janet Faynor Farrah who since retiring nine years ago, he has spent everyday caring for. He and his beloved wife Janet would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on April 1, 2007, and the life that they created was truly what he lived for. Although he worked in the “hot end” at Anchor Glass Container Corporation, he and his wife Janet, who has suffered from multiple sclerosis for 30 years, together raised five children, Erin Keedy or Connellsville, Pa., Daniel Farrah Jr. and wife Laura of Dunbar Township, Julie Kovacs and husband Mark of Uniontown, Pa., Michael Farrah and wife Kim of Munhall, Pa. and Steven Farrah and wife Ashleigh of New Stanton, Pa. His name will also live on through his 11 grandchildren, Mark Farrah and Farrah Keedy, Jacob, Benjamin and Sadie Farrah, Sydnie, Hunter, Maggie and Jack Kovacs and Morgan and Brooke Farrah. Daniel is also survived by six sisters, Maryann Farrah of Scottdale, Jeannie Conty of Bullskin Township, Patty, Ruthie, Judy and Susie Farrah all of Scottdale, Pa.; his mother-in-law, Madeline Faynor of Uniontown, Pa.; and too many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews to count. He is also survived by his faithful pet dog, Haley.

From buying the perfect birthday gift or Christmas gift, to dressing up as Santa Claus, to making a feast for all of the Holidays, taking care of others was what he enjoyed most. Some of the things he’ll be remembered for most are his pumpkin pies, his famous ham, and his spaghetti and meatballs. He lived his life to help others and make others happy. His family and friends all love, admire, and respect him, and will miss him forever.

Family and friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, Pa., today from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed y a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville with the Rev.
